Hey Scott - Actually the beloved Desktop is right there and in Windows 8.1 you will be able to skip right past the Start Screen to the Desktop if that is what you want.
However, the Start Screen, once you get it set up and customized to how you want it is much more informative than the old Start Menu with the Live Tiles giving you info at a glance.
Have you had the chance to use it extensively to see how the OS is configured, etc.?

I am also a clean install fan and will do the same thing when 8.1 comes out.

All users of Windows 8 will get the free Windows 8.1 update when it is released later this year.

As for languages - there are language packs for Windows 8 that can be downloaded and some come on the system already.

Lot of folks talking about the value of a Surface RT with this discount and the fact that it does not come with a keyboard.
Here is some math for them:
Surface RT (32GB) Costs $349 with the new discount
Office Home and Business 2013 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote, Outlook) comes on Surface for free ($220 suite of software to buy separately)
Cost of Surface RT (32GB) is $130 when you subtract the cost of the free Office Suite.
It is $230 if you add the $100 Touch Cover.
Plus you have full access to Windows Store Apps on it as well.
Seems like a pretty good value to me.

I`m going to buy Lenovo C440 I3-3220 with nVida Geforce 615 DDR3 2GB and 21,5" LED / MULTI TOUCH.

I`m Danish and live in Thailand. so I get the computer with WIN 8.0 on HD 1TB in THAI and ENGLISH. The system is recovery.

They told me I can upgrade with WIN 8.1 - is that right. If right, what happend with recovery part. Will that be update to?

Can I install other language such as Danish the same way as in WIN XP?
If I can I have to use Danish keyboard.

I copy all your writing for to learn and use.

Just wanted to share that the full scan detected three Java exploits also on the system plus the DOJ Ransomware package was also in a temporary internet cache directory. More good reasons to do a full scan after that quick one runs.

With a laptop it is not that easy. Disassembly can be challenging without experience. I still recommend that you blow out those vents regularly and make sure the fans are running . Try to angle the air so it does not just blow the dirt further inside.

I prop my Dell Vostro laptop up with one of those sturdy cardboard corners that you find on the crate appliances come in, such as window ACs and washing machines. I easily sawed it to size and keep a spare in my computer case.

I also bought a mini tower fan that I lay on its side next to the laptop. I saved the box it came in for traveling purposes if I will be using my laptop for extended periods of time away from home. The combination of prop and tower fan keeps my laptop cool. I quickly notice the difference when I don't have the fan on (if I'm recording my voice, for instance).

I do not believe the iPad has any cooling fans on it so this should not be necessary.
